Departmental Lectureship in Contemporary Chinese Studies

Grade 7: £31,076 - £38,183 p.a.

The School of Interdisciplinary Area Studies seek applications for a fixed-term (until 31 July 2020) Departmental Lectureship in Contemporary Chinese Studies.

The postholder will teach a number of weekly group classes, deliver lectures and supervise students on the MSc Contemporary China Studies programme, this includes teaching on the core course “Study of Contemporary China”. You will also be required to conduct student assessments, act as a point of contact for students, assist with administration as well as undertake your own academic research activities. Preference will be given to candidate specialising in sociology, anthropology, politics or human geography.

The post is based at The University of Oxford China Centre, Canterbury Road, Oxford.

The School is looking for the candidate who most fully meets the following criteria: relevant postgraduate qualification (preferably a doctorate); an aptitude for teaching and some experience of teaching and research; sufficient depth and breadth of knowledge in the subject to develop course materials and research proposals; publication record and familiarity with the existing literature and research in the field; experience of qualitative/quantitative research and analytical techniques.
