Skills Training of Migrant Workers and their Share of the Benefits of Development in China

At present, workers in China face many difficulties in sharing the benefits of economic development, such as cyclical unemployment and structural unemployment. This forum will explore the ways in which professional skills training can be used to promote workers' participation in the process of economic development and to increase their share of the fruits of development. It will also discuss ways to improve the effectiveness of current skills training in China.

Professor Zhongjian Li is an Academic Visitor at the School of Interdisciplinary Area Studies, University of Oxford, and Dean of the Economics Department, School of Business, Zhengzhou University. His research focuses on workforce and inclusive economic growth in China. The projects he has directed include “Vocational/technical education and the mechanism of social mobility of the new generation of migrant workers” and “A study of social policy on equal employment of urban and rural workers”.
